PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

THE NAZI SWASTIKA AND THE HINDU SWASTIKA ARE NOT THE SAME THING.

The Hindu swastika, which is actually in my house, represents good fortune and happiness, and was used long before Hitler stepped foot on this planet. Also, it is normally straight, and has dots in between.

The Nazi swastika, which obviously represents hatred of Jews, is normally on an angle, and has no dots in between.

DO NOT MIX IT UP, OR CALL AN INDIAN WHO HAS THIS IN THEIR HOME A NAZI.

IT IS NOT THE SAME THING.

otto-wood-protection-squad

I hope that this doesn’t feel like I’m hijacking the post, but the swastika design was/is also used by many southwestern tribes, perhaps most notably the Navajo.

There were varying meanings ranging from a symbol used in healing rituals, to a representer of the Hopi tribes. It’s also not actually CALLED a swastika, but there were multiple words for it across different languages, so that’s the word I’m using.

So if you see the design on blankets, robes, weavings, jewelry, or beadings, PLEASE do not accuse the creator/possessor of being a Nazi. It belonged to them LONG before The Third Reich was even conceived of.

Also, please note that many other indigenous group sadly now extinct after colonization used this symbol for eons, and the mathematical association to power and “blessings” mostly for crops and numerous kids were translated as power, UFOs and other space aliens theories, Hitler was a sucker for mystic stuff and magic so the appropriation of this symbol was very much intentional and yes, believe it or not they were very aware of this, which is why nazi collections are full of ancient Indian, Jew, Bhudist, Chinese and all kind of indigenous relics and documented studies, not because they were fans, just because they were convinced that if they stole the “power” of these ancient cultures they could possess and unleash the “power of the gods” that made them so thriving and powerful with 0 globalization and with so sophisticated and advance astrological and mathematical knowledge. So next time you see this symbol, yes you will see a svastika and not what it really was, and for that, nazis did won something and only education on history can take back that victory for them. History is important education, read, pass it on, don’t let them win anything else.

hello people who have recently moved cities/moved out and are dealing with living independently and being alone in a new environment - how do y’all?? stay sane and not stress??? how do u meet and make friends outside of uni?? PLS SHARE UR TIPS

almastudies

1. find free courses, it could be art, writing, dancing. something to get u out of the house and moving and distract you from school

2. get used to being on your own, and try doing things alone. going to the movies, going on walks, exploring the city that is now your home.

3. use social media to your advantage. find groups of people who have the same interests as you and try to reach out

4. keep in touch with your family and friends back home please and also be honest with them about your mental and physical health. if you’re having a bad time, and you think they won’t get extremely worried, tell them about it

5. use your comfort tv shows and music as company if you live alone

6. find new hobbies that you can invest some time on

7. i promise you’ll get the hang of it and a lot of people are coming your way to walk this new path with you. you’ll be a pro at independence before you know it. just focus on your goals and be honest with yourself.

8. if you really are losing it, get help if that’s something you can do. it’s for the sake of your future and your mental health, it doesn’t make you a failure or weak. on the contrary, it makes u strong and ambitious

a very quick self-reflection comic for the new year talking about being raised by my dad ig

(edit: this is ok to reblog, i know some people have had similar experiences with fathers or other family members and i kinda thought about that while sharing!)

riria0-0

this is really beautiful. You did amazing. I am really proud of you! And Even If i haven’t experienced the same thing, I can see that it was really hard for you! So, really, you did amazing! ^u^

clownings

thanks a lot! im surprised this comic got the attention it did, but im happy to be able to share my experience and tell people that you can decide to change from what bad parents have taught you!

slushie110

I’m so sorry you went through this, and so happy for you that you have people who love you! I understand where you are coming from, my dad isn’t the same but he is very “you have to be super smart to be important”, and I know I am very lucky to have 2 other parents who don’t act that way. I wish everyone had those people in their lives to love them and boost their interests. I hope I can be that person for someone, like my mum is for me.

I actually genuinely love dealing with angry and aggressive customers because it’s SO funny. They always come in with a specific level of energy and they expect whoever they deal with to be scared of them and then when I’m clearly not physically or emotionally intimidated they get SO flustered and start doing the weirdest shit to regain power in the situation. Like there’s absolutely nothing you could do to me in this coffee shop that would ever even make my Top 10 Scariest Interactions With People but by all means, keep faking that phone call to your boss who apparently knows the Starbucks mermaid personally.

sims4likesandsuch

Is that the right way to deal with people paying you for a service? Is it really worth losing customers and potential customers so you can pretend like you are someone important? What could they be irate about? You put whip cream on the latte? You didn’t leave your finger on the grinder button long enough? I find it hysterical that someone so low on the food chain needs to feel like they have a big dick! It’s rather pathetic that someone that is one step-up from pushing carts for a living can be so delusional. I would be petty if my daily life was to warm up milk or grind beans for a living but at the end of the day you are the one wearing an apron & wiping piss off toilets for a living. I think we all know who really wins

Cranky because I told you your “grande 20 oz skinny breve latte” order made no fucking sense aren’t you

raindancejodi

OP: I don’t let rude customers intimidate or bully me

This Fucking Person: So you’re just a rude bitch huh? That’s it? You’re fucking rude and horrible and just fucking spit on your customers is that right? I’m Very Important

slushie110

Just because you work at a coffee shop doesn’t make other people better than you…. And plus, working at a coffee shop with a large variety of drinks that you have to memorize how to make isn’t an easy job either…
